Pooja Bhaumik: personal brand identity
A personal identity for a developer and conference speaker, designed monogram first because the logo is almost never seen large.

The brief
Pooja Bhaumik is a developer who spends a good part of her year on conference stages. A personal brand for someone in that position carries an unusual constraint: the logo is almost never seen large. It is a profile photo at 32 pixels, a slide corner, a sticker on a laptop lid, a favicon.
What I made
So I designed the monogram first and the wordmark second, which is the opposite of how these usually go. The mark is built from her initials and holds its shape as it shrinks. That was the test I kept running: reduce it to the size of an avatar circle, squint, and see whether it is still a distinct silhouette or just a dark blob.
The typography stays quiet on purpose. A developer’s personal brand competes with her own slides, her own code samples and whatever the conference has themed the venue in. A loud typeface loses that fight every time, by drawing attention to itself rather than to her.
The logo build is animated. Not as a flourish: a speaker intro reel and a talk title card both need something to happen in the first two seconds, and a static PNG fading in is not something happening.
