Dome: 3D motion series
A three-part 3D motion series holding one form fixed while material, light and camera do all the changing.

The brief
Dome is a self-initiated three-part 3D motion series. One form, one camera idea, three variations, made partly because a single piece of motion is easy to fluke and three of them are not.
What I made
The constraint was that all three had to be recognisable as the same thing without repeating a shot. So the dome stays fixed as the subject and everything around it moves: material, light, and how much the camera is willing to reveal.
The first is the establishing one, lit hard so the silhouette is unambiguous. The second goes inside and gives up the silhouette entirely, which only works because the first one already told you the shape. The third trades geometry for surface and lets reflection carry the frame.
Working in a series changed how I judged each piece. On its own, any of these has a moment where you would add another element to keep it interesting. In a series you do the opposite and take things out, because the variation between the pieces is now doing the work that decoration used to do inside a single one.
