Paw Warz: promo graphics

The brief

Paw Warz is the trading card game built on top of Bad Bunnies, an Ethereum collection of 5,500 characters. I designed the promotional graphics: the material that had to make people want to play it.

What I made

The awkward part of promoting a card game before launch is that the cards are the product, and showing them flat is the least interesting thing you can do with them. A grid of card faces tells you a game exists. It does not tell you what playing it feels like.

So the graphics lead with the board and the collision instead: cards in play against each other, on the diamond layout the game actually uses, with the existing Bad Bunnies characters doing the work of making it recognisable to people who already held one.

Keeping the source characters intact mattered more than any styling decision. The audience for these graphics already owned the art, so anything that redrew or prettified a character would have read as a different project rather than an extension of the one they had bought into.
